- Wednesday, March 11, at 7:00 p.m.: Meeting of the
Temple Emanuel Networking Group. This month Dr. Judith A. Swack will speak on Staying Strong in a Traumatized Economy. Do you
find that the global economic crisis has trickled down into your life? Have you been laid off, cleaned out,
or let go? Times are hard, but suffering is optional. In this seminar, Dr. Swack will
teach you a simple and powerful technique for staying afloat emotionally even as the economy sinks.
Temple Emanuel is at 385 Ward Street, Newton. The
building is handicap accessible and there is on-street parking.

Meet the Mayoral Candidates Forum. The following candidates
for the position of Mayor of the City of Newton will be
speaking and taking questions:

Balser, Alderman Paul Coletti, Alderman Ken Parker and Alderman Setti Warren.

Reyim, 1860 Washington St., Auburndale.
Admission free, everyone is invited. Coffee and pastry will be
available.
- Sunday, March 22, from 11:00 a.m. -12:00 noon:
Spring into Action kick-off event at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in the Allen-Riddle Building Living
Room.
Spring into Action, sponsored by
Newton-Wellesley Hospital and the Newton Health and Human Services Department,
will start on Sunday, March 22 and end on Saturday, June 20. It is part of the City of Newton's
Activate! Newton program.
At the Kick-off, all registered participants will receive a free health
assessment (i.e. weight check, blood pressure, and BMI), nutrition information
and fitness tips, along with a program t-shirt and daily journal, which will be
used to track participants' progress throughout the program. You may
register online in advance of the event.
- Tuesday, March 24, 6:30 p.m. -- 9:00 p.m.: The
League of
Women Voters, in coordination with several other Newton organizations, presents
School Cost Structure, part of their "Critical Choices for Newton, 2009 and Beyond" series.
