  • Sunday, April 5, at 3:00 p.m.: Classics Concert performed by the New Philharmonia Orchestra at the First Baptist Church of Newton in Newton Centre. Details at the New Philharmonia Orchestra website.
  • Monday, April 6, at 7:00 p.m.: The League of Women Voters, in coordination with several other Newton organizations, presents a discussion of Newton's Municipal Cost Structure, part of their "Critical Choices for Newton, 2009 and Beyond" series.
    At the Longyear Museum, 1125 Boylston Street (Route 9 at Dunster Rd), Chestnut Hill.
  • Tuesday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m.: meeting of the Friends of Hemlock Gorge at the Emerson School, Pettee Street, Newton Upper Falls.
  • Wednesday, April 22, at 7:00 p.m.:
    • The Newton Healing Choir presents the screening of Holding Our Own: Embracing the End of Life, followed by conversation about building a Newton interfaith healing choir. At the Druker Auditorium, Newton Free Library.
    • Meeting of the Temple Emanuel Networking Group. This month's speaker is Arnie Fertig, on what techniques to use and how to optimize the use of online resources to uncovering the hidden job market.
      Temple Emanuel is at 385 Ward Street, Newton. The building is handicap accessible and there is on-street parking. Free and open to the public.
  • Saturday, April 25, 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon: The 2009 Annual Spring Cleanup of Hemlock Gorge, sponsored by the Friends of Hemlock Gorge. More details at their web site
