  • Tuesday, May 3, at 7:15 p.m.: Meeting of the Friends of Hemlock Gorge at the Emerson School, Pettee Street, Newton Upper Falls.
  • Wednesday, May 11 at 9:30 a.m.: Meeting of the Greater Boston Seniors Computer Group at the Newton Senior Center, 345 Walnut St, Newtonville. Lisa Lorgeree will discuss the "hows and whys", " do's and don'ts" and the "ins and outs" of Internet Banking. Q&A sessions will follow.

    • 12:00 noon -- 5:00 p.m.: Newton Historical Society's 23rd Annual House Tour. Information, and ticket reservations available at the Newton History Museum website.
    • at 2:00 p.m.: Newton's Memorial Day Parade (yes, it's a week early!). Assemble at Adams and Washington St. The march goes through Newtonville, ending at Colleti/Magni Park.
  • Friday, May 27, at 6:45 p.m.: Celebrating Lag Ba'omer. Shabbat service and at Beth Menachem Chabad. Reservations: $20 adults, $8 children ages 3-11. Please reply by Monday, May 23 by calling 617-969-1170, or by emailing BethMenachemChabad@comcast.net.
  • Sunday, May 29: Newton's Traditional Memorial Day Services. Seven ceremonies are scheduled, starting at 9:00. See the City of Newton's web site for more information.
  • Monday, May 30th:, at 10:00 a.m.: A special memorial to honor four Newton South graduates who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in Vietnam. At Newton South High School.
