  • Tuesday, January 3, at 7:30 p.m.: meeting of the Friends of Hemlock Gorge at the Emerson School, Pettee Street, Newton Upper Falls.
  • Wednesday, January 11, at 6:45 p.m.: Meeting of the Temple Emanuel Networking Group.
    Topic: "Be Your Own Job Coach" with Linda Samuels.
    Linda Samuels earned several teaching awards, authored several articles and an award winning book, Girls Can Succeed in Science, and holds a Master of Science in Evolutionary Biology. In 2001, she went back to school, earned an MBA from Suffolk University, and is currently running two businesses, teaching part-time, and volunteering in the Massachusetts correctional system. Her passion is to help people find their passion and to give them the tools they need to follow their dreams.
    Temple Emanuel is at 385 Ward Street, Newton. The building is handicap accessible and there is on-street parking. Free and open to the public.
  • Wednesday, January 25, at 7:30 p.m.: Mayor Setti Warren hosts the first of three community meetings to gather input on the "direction we are headed in next.". The mayor will be speaking, along with the CFO, COO and Superintendent of Schools about our needs and options.
    At Newton North High School.
