  • Thursday, December 1, at 4:30 p.m.: Holiday Lighting Ceremony at Newton City Hall. Storytelling with Mayor Cohen; music by David Polansky; refreshments
  • Sunday, December 4, 10:00 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m.: Celebrate Newton!, Holiday Arts & Crafts Festival, the fourth annual citywide PTO benefit for Newton schools. More than 50 community artists and crafters; live music; author signing; silent auction; children's projects; lunch café. $2 per person/$5 per family. At Newton South High School. More information.
  • Tuesday, December 6, at 7:15 p.m.: meeting of the Friends of Hemlock Gorge at the Emerson School, Pettee Street, Newton Upper Falls.
  • Saturday, December 10 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.: Newton Art & Craft Sale. At the Newton Cultural Center, 225 Nevada Street, Newtonville. Admission: $3 (children under 12 free)
  • Sunday, December 11 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.: Newton Art & Craft Sale. At the Newton Cultural Center, 225 Nevada Street, Newtonville. Admission: $3 (children under 12 free)
  • Wednesday, December 14
    • at 9:30 a.m.: Meeting of the Greater Boston Seniors Computer Group at the Newton Senior Center, 354 Walnut St., Newtonville.
