  • Sunday, April 2, at 4:00 p.m.: Concert to Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of, and to Benefit The Newton METCO Community Scholarship Fund. Myrtle Baptist Church 21 Curve Street, West Newton. Musical guests: A String and Piano Duo from Project STEP; Newton North's Jubilee Singers; Myrtle Baptist Church's own LoveTones.
    A reception will immediately follow the concert. Tickets are $15 at the door, $12.50 in advance, $10 for students with ID, and free for children under 12.
    To buy tickets in advance, please make check payable to Newton METCO Scholarship Fund, include a note indicating the number of tickets required, and mail to: Newton METCO Scholarship Committee, PO Box 600053, Newtonville, MA 02460. (If you would like confirmation, please include your email address or phone number.) Tickets will be held at the door.

  • Tuesday, April 4, at 7:15 p.m.: Meeting of the Friends of Hemlock Gorge at the Emerson School, Pettee Street, Newton Upper Falls.
  • Wednesday, April 5, at 7:00 p.m.: Meeting of the Temple Emanuel Networking Group. Speaker Alan Weisner on "Starting from zero and not looking back ---'It's what you know and whom you know' plus the people you haven't met yet" Temple Emanuel is at 385 Ward Street, Newton. The building is handicap accessible and there is on-street parking. Free and open to the public.
